SOUTHERN RHONE, LANGUEDOC-ROUSSILLON & PROVENCE

8 DAYS/7 NIGHTS 16th – 23rd October 2016
A unique wine and food event crafted exclusively for 16 discerning guests
This exclusive small group tour through Southern France is for lovers of fine wine, exceptional cuisine and an appreciation of French culture, and people. From stunning hilltops to the breathtaking Mediterranean coastline, explore and visit small artisan wineries, whose wines are imported exclusively to the USA by the renowned oenophile, wine merchant, author and musician, Kermit Lynch. Dine on meals prepared by some of the regions legendary chefs and return each day to intimate and unique chateaux, chosen especially for you, the discerning traveler.
The South of France may just be one of the most beautiful and varied regions on earth. From the French Alps in the Swiss border to the lavender fields of Provence to the best beaches on the Mediterranean, this part of France has something for everyone. Blessed by mild Mediterranean temperatures, the southern French region of Provence is one of the most glamorous holiday destinations. Historic sites and unique traditions are around every corner, and the landscapes of dramatic cliffs, wiggly waterways and wild mountains are overwhelming. Authentic Provençal life and traditions are best experienced in the region’s quirky little villages scattered all throughout its territory. Perched hamlets, beautiful ruined castles and deserted country lanes form the mysterious soul of this area of Vaucluse, and many colorful local markets adds to its liveliness.
A wealth of history lies in the Languedoc-Roussillon region. Roman monuments, Greek ruins, medieval castles and ancient villages are set amidst a patchwork of vineyards, farmlands, mountains and plateaus. The walled city of Carcassonne encompasses towers, dungeons, moats and drawbridges and serves as one of the most impressive examples of medieval France. Many of the citadels and fortresses are perched high atop cliffs and Rocky Mountains. Montpelier is a lively and radiant university town with squares, gardens and majestic mansions. The town of Nîmes is built around a Roman Amphitheatre, and Perpignan offers the unmistakable characteristics of Catalonia.
